11U Jr Baysox - Roster Selected

While parents had been informed of the plans prior to the evening, the Jr Baysox hopefuls in attendance thought it was just another Friday night tryout in pursuit of their goal to make the 11U Rep Team.
The players arrived as usual for their 6:30 start time, and they were informed by the coaches that they would be responsible for a team-lead stretch and warm-up, while the coaches observed from an adjacent room in the arena. The players had worked very hard over the past couple months, and it was their turn to take the lead and show the coaches how focused they were.
While the players jumped right into action, the coaches called players 1-by-1 into the other room, to secretly let each of them know that they had been selected as a member of the 2024 Jr Baysox. Each player was sworn to secrecy as they re-joined the warm-ups, with each being given a different funny excuse to tell their teammates that asked what was discussed in the other room. The coaches re-joined the team after the warm-ups, and the 11U Jr Baysox took part in a fun intra-squad modified scrimmage.
Before the night was over, there was one more surprise for the 11U's, as they were joined by a couple of members from the Sr Baysox team. Each Jr. player was welcomed to the Baysox Family, and presented with a personalized card or letter from a member of the current Sr Baysox Team that recognized their hard work and accomplishment. It was a moment that speaks to the culture we are looking to build within the Hawks / Baysox and Owen Sound community.
The 11U Jr Baysox are off for winter / holiday break, with indoor practices resuming Wed/Fri nights starting January 17th from 6:30-8:00. We wish all of our Hawks & Jr Baysox a safe and happy holidays, and we'll see you in 2024.
