The 7U Jr Rookie All-star Program is an introduction to advanced level baseball training and competition for some of our youngest Hawks, with a tryout and selection process taking place (dependent upon interest levels). Participation in the program is in addition to the 7U (Coach Pitch) program. Diamond rental costs for the 7U Jr Rookie Allstar program are covered through community sponsorships and partnerships.
With our House League program starting for players as young as 4 (or 3 the year they turn 4), and Rep/Select level baseball not being offered until 8U/9U, the 7U Jr Rookie All-star Program provides an opportunity for players/parents to partake in additional practices and exhibition games, as well as the opportunity to enter into Little-League tournaments in Southern Ontario. Jr Rookie Allstar games are played with a tee, as strong tee work is the best way to develop the necessary habits of a good swing. Through the focus of developing stronger baseball fundamentals, the Jr Rookie Allstar program sets the foundation for Rep or Select programming at the 8U/9U level.
For the 2024 season, Owen Sound Minor Baseball will be looking to establish the first 7U Jr Rookie Allstar Team - and a coach has volunteered to lead the program.
