Beginning with the 2024 season, the Owen Sound Minor Baseball OBA-Rep program has been renamed the Jr Baysox, in alignment with the Sr level OBA Baysox team in Owen Sound. While Owen Sound Minor Baseball and the Owen Sound Sr Baysox are separate organizations, both organizations are committed to promoting and growing the game of baseball for the Owen Sound and surrounding area youth.
For Rep and Select Teams, note, all players playing within the Western Ontario Baseball Association MUST also participate in House/Local league play from 9U through 18U. This is mandated by the Western Ontario Baseball Association, ultimately meaning that all Rep / Select Team players will be split up as evenly as possible across teams in House/Local league, and be required to play, in order to be eligible to participate in the Rep / Select program.
In addition to standard registration costs for Owen Sound Minor Baseball, Rep/Select teams will have a team fee associated with playing on the team. These team fees cover the costs of all expenses required to operate the team, including but not limited to;
- Diamond Rentals for Rep practices and home games
- Umpires for Home Games
- Uniforms
- Tournament Entry Fees
- OBA / Provincial Tournament Entry Fees
- Team Banners
- Team Equipment
- Indoor / Offseason Training
*Rep/Select team budgets may also be reliant upon sponsorships and fundraising efforts of the individual teams. Team coaches / managers are responsible for completing a budget and presenting it to the parents for transparency. Aside from team fees, Rep/Select players and families can expect to incur costs for travel and hotels, depending upon the number and location of in-season tournaments and the provincial championships.
