Update: Registration, New UIC, Umpire Clinic...
Hey Hawks / Jr Baysox!

We hope you all enjoyed the March Break, and that you're excited to get back to school and see all of your classmates. While there's only a few months of school left, there's even less time until we'll be back out on the fields playing the great game of baseball.

As the season quickly approaches, we've got some updates to share...

Registration: With a little under 2 weeks until registration closes, we've officially surpassed our registration numbers from last year. As winter sports like hockey wrap up, we expect to see registration numbers continue to rise. We're excited for a season of growth for Owen Sound Minor Baseball. The OSMB Exec will be meeting on March 25th, and shortly after registration closes (March 29th), we'll start team building exercises and reaching out to coaches / volunteers.

Umpire-in-Chief (UIC)If you've been following our offseason articles, you'll have noticed that the OSMB Exec has been searching for a new UIC. We're happy to announce that a familiar face to Owen Sound Minor Baseball has come forward, excited for the opportunity to focus on training and mentoring our umpires. Please join us in welcoming Alan Murray as our new Umpire-in-Chief. Alan is currently Co-President of the Western Ontario Baseball Association (WOBA), and he was previously President of Owen Sound Minor Baseball. He's happy to join the OSMB team again, and he has already gotten to work planning a local OBA Umpire Training Camp (Level 1/2). The OSMB Exec would like to once again thank Justin Tanguay for his support as UIC in previous years, and we wish him all the best.

Umpire Clinic: Owen Sound Minor Baseball has submitted an application to host a local umpire training camp on Saturday May 4th from 9:00am - 1:00pm. An application has also been submitted to host the camp at Owen Sound District Secondary School in the Gym. The camp is a requirement for (re)certification of level 1 and level 2 umpires. Cost for the camp is $25 for Level 1, and $40 for Level 2. Registration for the camp is done through the baseball ontario On-Deck App, and the camp will be available for registration after our application has been approved. For more information on umpire registration / certification, check out our Umpire Section. We'll be sure to share an update when our applications have been confirmed.

Stay tuned for more information, as we countdown to the 2024 OSMB Season!
