That's a wrap on the Inaugural Battle on the Bay Tournament
There are so many people to thank for what turned out to be a weekend beyond expectations. Our 11U JrBaysox reached the Semi Finals, losing a hard fought battle against a strong 11U A Collingwood Minor Baseball team. Congrats to the Newmarket Hawks on winning the Inaugural Battle on the Bay, after a great final vs Collingwood, and a special thanks to ROGERS tv Grey County for being on hand to broadcast the action. Thank you also to Sue Carleton, Mayor of Georgian Bluffs for coming out to throw the first pitch before the Championship Game....
To our amazing sponsors that can be found at the link below, thank you for your generosity and support. To the members of our community reading this, please consider these amazing sponsors for your needs: https://owensoundminorbaseball.com/Tournam.../1080/Sponsors/
To the Operations Staff with the Township of Georgian Bluffs, thank you for supporting us at the parks all weekend, with a special shoutout to Zach Carson for taking care of the groundskeeping at Balmy Beach. Your pride in having that field looking sharp was recognized by teams all weekend long. Also, a special thanks to the OSMB Exec & Owen Sound Baysox Baseball members that made sure Shallow Lake was in top shape all weekend, and to The Freedom Ranch Inc for lending their ATV to drag the diamond.
We also cannot forget to thank the 40+ volunteers that worked the diamonds from 630am to 11am this morning, after thunderstorms last night left both in unplayable shape. It was all hands on deck, including some coaches and parents from other teams, helping to get the games going. After a lot of hard work, and two loads of sawdust from Northwind Timber, we were able to see this fantastic weekend through to completion. A true #community effort. Also, a special thanks to Scott Macleod running back and forth between diamonds all weekend while also celebrating his little man's first birthday!
Thank you to Rob Elder Music for putting on a great show Sunday night for all that came out to our event, and Inques Tattoo for doing tons of temporary tattoos for both the kids and the parents.
Thank you to the OSMB Umpire crew and UIC for all their hard work this weekend. There was a lot of high pressure and intense moments, and you all navigated the weekend very well.
Thank you to Big Bay’s Paddy Wagon Paddy Tougas and Co for serving up some great eats at Shallow Lake, and Patrick McCormick for coming out and capturing shots of the Jr Baysox at bat.
Thank you, Big Brothers Big Sisters Grey Bruce, for the volunteer support selling 50/50 tickets.
And last but certainly not least, thank you to every member of the #BaysoxNation for all of the support all weekend. From setting up the tents and running the concessions, to helping with the fields, to setting up the event, to manning the registration tables and playing tunes and walkups all weekend....you all played a crucial role in delivering a home run of a tournament. Kudos to each and every one of you! Multiple teams let us know it was the best tournament they have been a part of, and they are looking forward to future events.
The Inaugural Battle on the Bay Tournament has come to a close, but the experiences and memories that were made will live on, and it's clear that the future is bright for baseball in Owen Sound. If we have missed anyone we do apologize, but please know that your help and support was so greatly appreciated, and you too are a great part of the #BaysoxFamily.
