Hey Jr Baysox,
Did you hear that a Women's Professional Baseball League (WPBL) is preparing to launch in 2026? Women's baseball has seen significant growth across the amateur levels in recent years, which has led to increasing opportunities at the grassroots level for females interested in playing baseball...
In partnership with other WOBA centres, Owen Sound Minor Baseball is looking to offer a dedicated girls' team at the 9U and 11U levels for the 2025 season. OBA rules allow girls to be able to play 1 year down. This means that a 9U team could be made up of players 8-9 and 10 years old, and a team at the 11U age group could be made up of players 10-11 and 12 years old.
In order to offer a dedicated team at either (or both) of the 9U & 11U divisions, a minimum roster size of 10-12 players (and 2-3 coaches) per team would be required. In the event that a dedicated roster is not possible, players would continue to play in our mixed WOBA local league.
If you are the parent/guardian of a female player aged 8-12 that has been registered (or if you're planning to register) and would be interested in this opportunity, please email our VP Operations & Registrar - Sarah McPhee -
